Na Na Na Naan!

Take me to a good Indian food buffet with some tasty naan and I am the happiest/fattest person on earth! It’s only natural that I want to reproduce this delicious naan at home. I will admit my attempt did not result in something that perfectly embodies what I wanted but it’s still pretty delicious in its own way.

Dissolve the yeast and sugar in your warm water for about 10 minutes, until foamy. Into a medium mixing bowl, sift salt, baking soda and flour. Give it a quick mix. Add the oil and yogurt and mix until crumbly.

Add yeasty water and then knead until smooth. Cover and let proof for 2 hours in a warm place. Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (let your pizza stone come up to temperature with oven, if you have one). Cut pieces of dough off and knead into your desired shape (usually a flat oval shape).

Place on your pizza stone and cook for 2-5 minutes, until browned to your preference. Alternatively, you could use a baking sheet or brown them over a burner flame. Top with ghee or whatever ails you and enjoy!
